I purchased an AMD Ryzen 5800x3d to "sidegrade" to replace my 5900x. The massive 96 MB level three cache is what sold me on this particular CPU. The CPU was open and possibly used... but it works well enough to make my 5900x look weak. The 5900x is a server CPU. The 5800x3d is a true gaming CPU.

This CPU is fast, like, super fast. Been playing Baldur's Gate 3 for 2 months using this CPU on max settings with an RX 6750 GPU on Windows 11 Pro, and there's been zero issues. I had one battle in 100 hours of gameplay get slow / hit frame issues that lasted for about 10 seconds. CPU can handle anything you throw at it, except Microsoft Defender threat scans. an i5-13600k in 2023 is no match for that.

If you are looking for the best performance on a budget, this is your chip. I built two systems with similar hardware except for the CPU - one with this and the other with a core 7 265. I can't tell a difference in Star Citizen, one of the most demanding games on a CPU.
