I am cooling it with Be Quite! Dark Rock Pro 4

I loved this CPU, overclocking was a breeze, didn't win the silicon lottery, CPU is lighting fast, runs cool on the right cooling. This makes my old 8350 look like a potato in terms of performance, stability and quality.

I got this on special and it has been flawless so far. I upgraded from a i7 third gen which was given to me a few months back and you can notice the difference while gaming.

Mine did come with a heatsink, fan and thermal paste. This 7700 runs fine on my Win 7. It is only 4 cores but has 8 threads!! So it is like a 8 core. Under video processing load it runs no hotter than 75C an idles around 37C. I put this on a fantastic, inexpensive GIGABYTE GA-H270-HD3 (rev. 1.0) LGA 1151 Intel H270 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 with an inexpensive $40 GIGABYTE GeForce GT 420 2GB 80mm Video Card and I could not be happier. I only play BF 2142 SP Mods and I am pulling 99.9 FPS on FULL SETTINGS which is about 30 FPS faster than my Intel E6800 dual core machine, which by the way is still running lightning fast after almost 10 years of steady hammering Video files and various games, never running over 65C.

The processing power of this chip lends well to both gaming and business functions (spreadsheets, graphics, etc.).

6 core 12 threads is a noteisable jump form the i3 1200f that is a 4 core 8 threads

In one CPU bound game, Kerbal Space Program, I saw a 2.5x increase in performance from a Ryzen 3600. No other changes were made to the system.

This is replacing i7-3770S...and d### it, I hate to say it but this is light years ahead and better. That i7-3770S had put such a warm and loving place in my heart, I hate to see it go, but I needed Windows 11 and more performance....It was just that moment we hate to upgrade something that has been so dependable and never missed the job at hand, ...for over 10 years... but this little i3-12100 is just light years ahead of legacy technology and it's the passing of the torch.

I'm a AMD fan at heart but have been wanting to upgrade for awhile now. Since AMD ( from what I understand ) will not be putting out any CPUs to compete with Intel's higher end I decided to buy this. At stock clock and voltage this chip runs extremely cool. I have mine OC'd to 4.6Ghz with a slight Vcore increase. This CPU is not all about bumping up the Vcore high. When OC a Ivy Bridge it's all about being patient and keeping your Vcore as low as possible. ( Which is like any OC but on these again you have to be very easy on the voltage ). And the slight increase IPC ( Instructions Per Second ) makes single threaded performance better compared to Sandy Bridge. About 300-400Mhz increase in single core performance over Sandy. ( My 4.6Ghz is in the performance area of a 4.9-5.0Ghz Sandy ) Look at the reviews comparing this to the 2011 sockets.

If you are looking for the best performance on a budget, this is your chip. I built two systems with similar hardware except for the CPU - one with this and the other with a core 7 265. I can't tell a difference in Star Citizen, one of the most demanding games on a CPU.

Love this CPU. Upgraded from a Ryzen 5 7600 and due to cash constraints did not buy new. Risked it and bought this one cause I needed more cores. This sucker is FAST. LOVE having 32 THREADS AVAILABLE.

Got this for Dell m1530 w/ vista ult 64 bit. Boot times dropped by almost 25 sec!! Everything is running great. No extra batt drain and no extra heat. Can't get better.
