Got this because it's compatible with Windows 98 Upon boot, Win 98 detected it, it installed a PCE-E to PCI bridge chip driver. I had to install the driver manually after, but that's just Windows 98 being bad.

The sound card has very rarely failed to do what it claims to do and I highly recommend it to you. Yes it does have a mic/headset plugin and I have no final complaints

The ASUS Xonar U5 work perfectly for the application I was using it for.

I bought it to install on an old computer because the built-in sound card no longer worked. The sound quality is okay but not as good as the PCI-e version I also bought. It also comes with a driver disk.

This card opened my eyes to great sound. I thought I was alright with my sb 5.1 card - but then I got this. The difference is like night and day, crystal clear, no distortion, and the volume is really loud.

Motherboard sounds chips are such low quality! I Remember the good old days when Sound Cards were something we all wanted and for good reason No POP sounds when we boot up no crackling and hissing. The software to control this DAC also makes it possible to switch between my amp and speaker and a pair of headphones with a click of a button no reboot required any more due to sound stuck in one mode. One of the best features though is the volume nob that also has a mute option build in.
