With a litlle effort the batteries can be replaced by owner. APC does not make it easy. You can break one of the plastic fasteners. This is not critical, Batteries are the CP1290 model. Four batteries are needed since this is a 24 volt system like the UPS. The UPS series with a battery inlet is XS. Not all 1500VA units have the needed inlet. Remember the charging comes from the UPS so allow time for a full charge. Don't panic if the fan seems to run for awhile during the initial charge period. Seven AH batteries will fit but they lower the run time.
