Worked with Fedora 16 out of the box. Able to read DVDs and Blurays. Seems very fast. Didn't get 12x, but when I copied a Bluray movie to my HDD it was around 3x. Copying 30G in under 10 minutes I'm sure the bottleneck was my hard drive.

"UHD Friendly" is what I was needing and for almost 2 years now my drive is trouble free after much use. It also has worked with some disks previously reported as flawed. I think this is because the drive supports the use of LibreDrive with MakeMKV.

Does what is supposed to do and more?

This was for a new PC build it came with the software disk needed to set it up and was also easy to find updates from the Asus site. Fit into the slot perfectly easy to set up.

It works with makeMKV and handbrake
