Install the drivers from the CD even though if you have Windows XX it is a good idea there is proprietary software with it you may not want to install.

-Burns fast (Well all I burned was music and small files, so I can't say for large files.) -Formatted a CD-WR right out of the box, but I installed the software on the drivers disc after. -Comes with some quality-of-life software; would suggest if you have the time to install it. (Come with CD) It saves energy and makes burning and managing your disc way easier. -Also nice that it comes with two different types of USB. :)

Works... Asus is a pretty decent brand in my opinion. If the drive fails within a year I will be sure to change my rating.

This is something amazing! I'm thinking about buying a second device on the shelf at home. Because manufacturers will release more and more new devices with increasingly stupid security. Later it will be impossible to get! ASUS BW-16D1HT Burner (UHD Friendly) plays 4K UHD movies on any computer regardless of system requirements !. But you need to install DVDFab.Player.5.0.2.3 and in the settings select 4K UHD video playback of the same movie without the menu. The movie miraculously reproduces DVDFab 5 on a regular monitor, incorporating color, brightness and sharpness control. CyberLink PowerDVD 17.18 shows error in computers that do not meet the requirements and does not have a 4K UHD monitor. In the end, I can make copies of my own movies. My computer: Gigabyte GA-B250M-Gaming 5. Intel Core i7 6700 CPU 3.40GHz, NVidia GeForce GTX 1070. 32GB Corsair DDR4-2132 (1066 MHz), Monitor 1920x1080 Dell 24 ".

Works like a charm. Plug it in and it is ready to go. Blu-ray requires Third party software. I chose "Toast 18 Titanium" Pricy but runs and burns Blu-Ray.

Generic CD/DVD burner, which is all I wanted for some ancient software I have and for ripping dvd's to my NAS. Hitachi... which, ok, maybe a 'name brand' doesn't mean anything now but still - 'Hitachi'. (Screw LG and their refrigerator box warranty hi-jinks! People DO keep track of being " - rotating-wood-fastener'-ed in one arena and avoid the brand in another.)
