If set up right, there should be virtually 0 packet loss. You are given more options on how to route Ethernet through your home. With gigabit connection speeds, you can hook up multiple computers to a single powerline and get Ethernet anywhere on the same power grid. It feels like I should also mention how each of these adapter pairs have separate encryption. I haven't tested it myself, but it's likely you can have multiple of these on the same power grid.
