Worry free, just plug and play.
Solidly built and performs as advertised. No hassle installation
I work in information technology, and sometimes configure larger managed switches. When I read the specifications for this switch and then the price, I don't think I've ever impulse bought a network device faster, and I don't regret it. It does everything it says it does in the manual, is inexpensive, fanless, and has a great, sturdy iron case with notches for wall mounting using the included screws and wall anchors. Apart from the very solid build quality an iron case imparts, the extra weight is incredibly helpful to keep the device firmly planted where you put it when you have Ethernet cables hanging from all of the ports.
Big, fat disclaimer: I am reviewing this modem at its current price range, which is significantly lower than the majority of *other* 8-port gigabit switches. So without further ado: - Plugged it in to a DD-WRT router and it just works. This is pretty much normal for network switches, but it's still a good thing that I didn't have to sacrifice virgin mice over it to get it to work. - Transfer speed seems good. Not excellent, from what I've seen, but good. - At least right now, the price is sitting at 40USD - a fair bit lower than most other 8 port switches that aren't horrible. - Stability. I've had it in hot areas, using it explicitly against how the instructions say to use it (i.e. I've kept stuff on top of it - because you know you're going to put stuff on it), and it hasn't had a hiccup. - It's not a cheap plastic housing. Seems to actually be made of metal. - What more do you want? It's an 8-port network switch that works as advertised.
Small Physical Signature: This switch is small so doesn't take up much space. Plug and Play: Speed test done right after installed and it does a great job.

It just works Very compact, uses little real estate on the desktop Attractive case
* Nice compact form factor * Included power adapter option is nice * Even nicer is being able to power it off PoE - one less wire/plug socket to deal with * Integrates well with the UniFi Network app, showing what devices are connected to it
UniFi compatible and suited to the kinds of awful environmental conditions the old Ubiquiti Tough Switch Pro was perfect for. Being managed by UniFi rather than UISP simplifies the network, so it's GREAT to have this niche filled. Surprisingly useful to have more ports, didn't know we needed them until we had the option.
Has 2x10Gbps slots, 8x2.5Gbps slots, and 16x1Gbps slots. All 24 of the RJ45 ports have a backlight that glows through the clear RJ45 connector on your cable to convey which port speed you achieved. Green is 2.5Gbps, white is 1Gbps, Red is 100Mbps. This makes it really easy to know if you have the right cable in the right slot.
Easy to set it up... Just power it on and plug the cables.
-Whisper quite -Many Features -Web GUI or phone app to manage it -You have to know what your doing or at least read the manual.
Fast, well constructed, easy to use, just like any other quality switch I have owned (I have at least 6 1G ones in my house). Hopefully the power plug holds up, that's really the only weak point on the 1G switches.
Love Netgear, very reliable like always.
Nice looking switch. Solid build that feels very sturdy. Small, and makes very good utilization of it's space. Lights all work. Installation was easy, but you will want to follow the instructions in order to know how to connect to it with the software. -see other thoughts on install. Connect an ethernet cable from your router or model to the switch. (this takes up one port, so if you need more than 4 ports you should get the larger switch) The software should find your new switch. You will want to connect to it and configure the IP to one you wish to use, or one within your current gateway address. Once you login to the switch with the default credentials you can access many features that will give you some advanced functionality. You can set this to DHCP, You can enable / disable ports, set custom configurations, Port Mirror, setup a Vlan, Port based QOS, bandwidth controls as well. I set this up with some port based QOS and it seemed to work great. So far very happy with this switch.
Quality build - in a full metal case the build quality is excellent. Size - at just over 11 inches long and a height of just under 1 inch it can be mounted underneath or on the back of your computer desk. No wasted space - the case is only slightly larger than the area for ports. Easy to mount - a couple of screws to mount it
Simple to use and small so it's easy to hide.
