Easy setup just plug it in and it works
The product is a small and compact desktop switch. The nice part of this switch is the metal casing causing this to be a heat-sink allowing this to stay cool inside. The lights on the switch show the active and connected ports. Simple to use, plug and play.
Simple setup. Great speeds. Fast delivery.
Just about every consumer switch available is using the same chip as their competitors. Because of this there is very little difference when it comes to performance, so when choosing which one to buy it will come down to price, features, and overall quality. I found this units metal casing very durable and it definitely feels well made. The added heft also ensures it won't move around on your desk or shelf if you utilize all 8 ports like some units with a lightweight plastic shell might. I only had 6 devices available to test with but I did test all 8 ports eventually and each functioned perfectly. Like I said about performance, this switch performed right on the money for streaming or large file transfers from client to client. The indicator LEDs are a nice touch so you can see the status and speed of each device connected at a glance.
- easy to setup - can mount on wall
Made in Vietnam with a Chinese power supply. The box runs cool and has a power led and a link led for each port. They shine through a 1 mm hole and are fairly visible. The switch performs very well. The says it supports 16K jumbo frames.
* Nice compact form factor * Included power adapter option is nice * Even nicer is being able to power it off PoE - one less wire/plug socket to deal with * Integrates well with the UniFi Network app, showing what devices are connected to it
Super easy setup. Plugged in the cat6 cables and was online again in about 60 seconds. No power cycling the modem/router or pc. Boom shalaka boom! And I swear the response time while online is faster now...not sure why, but I know it 'feels' faster.
UniFi compatible and suited to the kinds of awful environmental conditions the old Ubiquiti Tough Switch Pro was perfect for. Being managed by UniFi rather than UISP simplifies the network, so it's GREAT to have this niche filled. Surprisingly useful to have more ports, didn't know we needed them until we had the option.
-Whisper quite -Many Features -Web GUI or phone app to manage it -You have to know what your doing or at least read the manual.
Just plug everything in. Aside from one glitch where one computer thought it had an IP address conflict, everything worked smoothly. The conflict resolved itself somehow, probably a Windows thing, and connections are now consistent and fast.
2.5Gbs speed from my router to the rest of my home network.
Works as advertised and had no issues with autonegotiating speeds on interfaces with Google Fiber's provided equipment (an issue I had read about in reviews for other boxes which I was concerned about). Get full speed.
To be fair, after several days of noise the switch's fan has gradually returned to its normal sound level, with no apparent actual failure. So, perhaps D-Link's policy of not authorizing a return until an actual failure has a good basis.
Lots of ports, easy port speed color light recognition, no fans, cool to the touch after running for over a month.
Quality build - in a full metal case the build quality is excellent. Size - at just over 11 inches long and a height of just under 1 inch it can be mounted underneath or on the back of your computer desk. No wasted space - the case is only slightly larger than the area for ports. Easy to mount - a couple of screws to mount it
