I was pleasantly surprised to see it included a USB Type C to USB Type A adapter (no indication of this on the description or picture), which are $5-6 each by themselves. I was impressed that on 2 different computers it powered a mechanical 5400RPM laptop HDD solely via bus power, and the performance was nearly identical to plugging it directly into a SATA port (on the mechanical drive). On the 2 SSD drives I have used so far, they had faster I/O when plugged directly into a SATA port (as one would expect). I liked how the item fits into a spiral cutout of a foam rectangle... that doesn't really sound very appealing but I'm trying to say that I liked the packaging and will be keeping it and storing the adapter in it.

I use these adapters quite regularly and keep them accessible at all times. I have an environment of mixed ports on various devices, and having these adapters lets me use what I need , when I need, quite easily. I am now able to use some older USB 3.0 external drives with my Mac's USB-C port with a simple adapter and it gives new life to some older drives that I would otherwise not be able to use.

All USB hubs I have so far are USB 2.0. This 4 port USB 3.0 portable hub would be a nice upgrade for my laptop. The item came in a nice retail package. The material construction of the hub is solid. The case is rugged and the detailed finish is smooth and shiny without any rough edges or surface. I plugged it into my laptop and the hub was recognized instantly. I plug a USB flash drive, an external drive and did some copying of files. The hub performed well. I would recommend it A++++.
