I needed a large external USB 3.0 drive and the best solution was to buy one of these M.2 drives and put it in an external USB 3.0 case. I tend to like Orico external cases, and found one put this drive in it, and it works perfectly as a go to external drive. It really is a super fast drive and non-demanding is what I want and it works just fine.

FAST FAST FAST FAST. Like crazy fast. I was honestly not expecting this SSD to be as fast as it was. I didn't buy it to be my boot disk, but once I saw how fast it was compared to the 980 Pro, I swapped them. No real worries about heat or power draw of course. Just some good fast storage.

I have used this for a replacement hard drive on over a dozen computers now, and have never had a problem. They are over 10x faster then standard mechanical drives and are just as reliable as some of the more expensive Samsung and Western Digital drives. They may not be quit as fast as some of the more expensive brands, but are plenty fast enough for the standard consumer.
