I put my SSD in case, attached to USB with the included cable and it worked just fine. It's not advertised to be military though or to do magic so I have to be fair and rate it 5 eggs for being as describe. If you intend to man handle or throw the item around just beware you will most likely need to spend more in order to buy that level tough protection.
