Great Price for an 8 port gigabit ethernet switch.
Small foot print, managed, and gigabit.
no installation required, just plug and play
Sturdy Construction - The first thing I noticed when I opened the box was the weight of this thing. I immediately knew, this was a solid piece of tech. Most switches have a plastic housing at this price, but it appears TP-Link stepped up. This switch can be sat on a desk or flat surface, as well as wall mounted. 8-ports - You get 8 (7 if you connect to a router) ports versus 5 ports that most other companies offer for the same price. Low Power Consumption - My Kill-A-Watt EZ on showed 3.1 watts being used with 6 ports being used. At idle with no ports, it sat at 2.9. These numbers are slightly better than my Netgear 5-port Gigabit switch. 5 Year Warranty - This is a big plus. Most equipment comes with a 1-3 year warranty. Good to see a company stand behind their product.
Small Physical Signature: This switch is small so doesn't take up much space. Plug and Play: Speed test done right after installed and it does a great job.
Fast performance and PoE+/++ out of the box! Small footprint and overall a performance beast for my network
UniFi compatible and suited to the kinds of awful environmental conditions the old Ubiquiti Tough Switch Pro was perfect for. Being managed by UniFi rather than UISP simplifies the network, so it's GREAT to have this niche filled. Surprisingly useful to have more ports, didn't know we needed them until we had the option.
Works as advertised and had no issues with autonegotiating speeds on interfaces with Google Fiber's provided equipment (an issue I had read about in reviews for other boxes which I was concerned about). Get full speed.
The switch has a very heavy and quality feel to it. POE+ works great with my cameras, and wireless access points.
Definitely made for the office environment. There are no front facing LEDs, on the "front" there is a lock port and the power port. The side with the plugs are where all the status LEDs are. There are so many features on this via the included software that most switches do not have. Software was a quick install via included CD (still waiting for the move to flash drives for all this stuff). Included software was rather easy to navigate, there was one issue but that will be explained below. It's nice to be able to put into play all the features that are listed in the product title. The QoS feature worked great alongside the other various features listed above that I was able to test in my somewhat limited home environment. I actually really like the lack of LED displays on the side that is facing me. It's a nice lack of a feature I guess. It's a fairly compact 8 port switch which also is nice.
Connect the cables, plug in the power, and it's working. That's it. Everything on the network was up and running immediately.
-Whisper quite -Many Features -Web GUI or phone app to manage it -You have to know what your doing or at least read the manual.
I really like this switch. It has all the great management features you would want, the GUI makes sense, VLANs work as expected, it has POE, and it's got a great slim form factor for wall mounting and getting it out of the way. Comes with the screws necessary to wall mount as well.
* Nice compact form factor * Included power adapter option is nice * Even nicer is being able to power it off PoE - one less wire/plug socket to deal with * Integrates well with the UniFi Network app, showing what devices are connected to it
Just needed a mobile Hub/Switch for some tech work i do. So far this little Netgear is GREAT. Nice metal construction!
