Not as flimsy as I thought from reading other reviews but bought the protection plan anyways because it was cheap enough! This little thing works great! plug and play and you get two types of cords for your needs. has little rubber stoppers on the bottom so it doesn't slide around, I don't know what that other person was talking about it does not slide around. Works fine in a low end Windows Laptop. The drive does not burn as fast as a desktop so some patience is needed. It works with a single cable No coasters

plug and play works great defanatluy a upgrade with the new dvd'less computers. growing up with dvd's and cd's having to download all your favorites was getting annoying now a big hard drive, and a huge collection . I defiantly recommend Intendvision dvd player

I bought this external drive primarily for ripping old CDs and transferring the songs to flash drive. I have not been disappointed in the least with the performance of this drive, it has recognized several older discs and faithfully ripped the songs I needed. Thanks, Newegg!

My main concern was for it to playback DVD-DL discs. It does and very well. Used to be you needed a very expensive DVD Blu- Ray player for that. Play back is great, picture great.

Recognized by both Windows& and Ubuntu no problems, no drivers needed. Plays my music CDs just fine. Solid build while still light. Stylish enough (translation - it's black like the rest of my stuff) . Perhaps it's not as fast as some built in models but OTOH I only need one of these units since aside from playing music I only use it occasionally on each machine, so why by two permanent units? Just move it where you need it when you need it. Wish I had thought of working things this way before I bought two identical internal units, neither of which was recognized by either Windows 7 or Ubuntu. Who knew that in 2012 some CD/DVD players are not compatible with Windows? Whatever. This works no hassles. I love it and hope it lives a long time.
