perfect for NAS. I don't really need the AI function in the drives they sit in a UNIFI protect set up. I have the 24TB one in my home protect set up and initially it was loud, but it has become more quite since it finished it originally set up. I have 8 of the 8TB drives with no issues. 2 are cold spares. when they go in I'll order 2 more. I take the drives that are out of warranty and typically put them in our 3rd tier backup NAS systems and they seem to live forever. Technically out of "service life" but that doesn't mean I take them offline, I stick them into a lower use environment to live out their days storing old accounting stuff. Nothing as exciting as VIDEO

This is such a quiet drive 5 cameras record 24/7 and it doesn't bat an eye

Pros: - Massive 6 TB capacity with server type reliability - 128 MB cache, about double than most high capacity hard drives out there - 1.4 Million hrs - mean time to failure (MTBF), this should serve you with plenty of spare time, works out to 142 years which should last a few generations. I guess only time will tell how reliable the drive really is. - This is a high workload drive designed for servers, if you looking for a high capacity drive for storing non critical files etc get a cheaper regular drive if you're on a tight budget. -I got 208MB/s read speeds on average of 5 runs with ATTO drive benchmark tool, very impressive for a mechanical drive !! - SATA III 6GB/s controller compatible to allow maximum transfer speeds - Five year warranty - Very low noise, could not hear any noise over some of my other high capacity drives - Comes with all the security protection features you’d expect from a high end enterprise drive

I would recommend Western Digital HDDs (or even their SSDs, I've got those, too) to anyone needing to expand or enlarge their existing system. Easy to install and configure to your Windows OS.

It works great. Now I have room for lots of photos. My techy installed it.

Doing LLM training and needed to use a 35TB training file and 3TB validation file. Used 3 of these drives to create a RAID 0 drive with approx 54TB capacity. (this is on Ubuntu and formatted with XFS file system since usual EXT4 tops out at about 16TB file size.) Works great and much faster than a single drive would be due to the striping of RAID 0.

Great drive and lots of advanced features

NewEgg nicely packaged the drive for shipping. Working fine. I'm currently booting my iMac off this drive in an external enclosure and will eventually install it inside to get SATA speed.

Top notch performance for a spinning disk drive Built a massive 60TB array in just a couple days through USB 3.0 (that's pretty good) These don't seem to be the green drives that can corrupt RAID arrays They do power down by my RAID enclosure's instructions, but power up quickly when commanded to do so One bad drive out of five, but replaced by Newegg with a good one one

I chose WD for they have never failed me as other drives have failed. I hope to update this review in a couple of years and report on the status of this drive.
