Picked up four of these to upgrade my synology NAS. Wanted something large but the 16TB drives were a little pricey. On sale these were incredibly reasonable. Great value for what I paid. Good warranty.

Ordered two on the 4th of Mar (Friday) and received both on the 7th (Monday 3/7/2022). Ran all of Sea Tools diagnostics on them and they passed all tests. (Note: the Long Generic test takes ~14 Hrs.). I purchased a D-Link DNS-320 NAS in 2011. It was slow and their 2.05 firmware only supported up to 3 TB hard drives. I found freeware firmware called Alt-F that can be loaded on the DNS-320 and supports the 8 TB hard drives. I loaded the Alt-F firmware and it formatted the ST8000VN004s using Ext 4 in a RAID 1 configuration resulting in a swap file and 7.2 TB of usable storage. I copied almost 4 TB of data to the old NAS, breathing new life into a previously pretty limited 2-bay NAS server.

-Work well -quiet -should be reliable based on past experiences

Price per TB

Did a full format, the memory transfer has been smooth and clean.

Arrived on time and formatted right out of the packaging. I'm using it in an external USB enclosure as a backup drive.

-lots of storage -No problems as of yet

Good performance under stress

Good capacity for the price Hard drive is relatively fast Trustworthy brand

- Great price for a good deal of storage - Initialized quickly

These work wonderfully with my Synology NAS!

4TB of space Pretty fast It is a CMR drive, not the cheaper SMR. Doesn't get hot at all, just warm to the touch & stays warm inside my case.

Installed in a As1104T NAS. Installation was simple and the drive has performed well. Its quiet in Operations and, so far, has had no problems in use across the network. Newegg has been a recent "go to" for my network storage needs.

20Tb capacity and on sale at a reasonable price. CMR thus suitable for virtually all workloads. Be aware the Exos drives have a higher TBW rating (data transferred per year) so in some applications this MAY matter. In mine it doesn't. Plenty of experience with this series in different capacities, thus far no complaints or issues.

The Western Digital drives work great. I use them almost exclusively in my Freenas box.

Synology drives are guaranteed compatible and recommended for Synology enclosures.

For Synology NAS users, the Synology brand drives means easier adoption, less headaches and fewer notifications. The extra small pennies/gb price per GB over other enterprise drives with worth it. No need to worry about compatibility with many features of DSM 7.1

quiet and fast

This is such a quiet drive 5 cameras record 24/7 and it doesn't bat an eye
