Good capacity and pretty quite even under load.

- Got six. Created RAID 5 and RAID initialized successfully. This is sort of a first test for the drives. Copied a few TB of backups on it which went without a hitch. - Performance. A hair better than HGST 6TB NAS drives that I own as well. 212 MB/sec sequential Read and Write on the outer most track and (half of that) 100 MB/sec on the innermost track. 170 MB/sec AVG sequential read. - Enterprise. For the price I had a choice, go with the proven HGST 6TB NAS, get IronWolf Pro 6TB or these. I figured, I'm going to give an Enterprise drive a try and see if it is in fact better than consumer/NAS drives. Now I have to wait 5-6 years until I can reach a conclusion. - July 2016 manufacture date with August 2021 warranty expiration. For a drive that came out in middle of 2014 I was worried that the stock will consist of old drives and that I would lose a year of warranty as a result. Mid 2016 is acceptable. - Noticeably quieter than my HGST 6TB NAS drives under load/seek. Quiet random seek - this usually is the loudest operation. This measure is always subjective, but I think many will find these to be very quiet. For the past two weeks I've been moving data between RAID sets which equated to a lot of TBs written to and read from these drives in total. I'm very happy with them, just wish they had ISE.

- Packaging was great. - Surprised how hefty the drive is. - Copied 2 SSDs and 4 hard disk drives onto this drive and the contents hardly registered. - There was hardly any noise during copying or accessing data. - If you need massive amounts of storage in one drive, this is it. - 5 Year warranty.

Installed these in new Synology 220j, no problems, seem to work fine during first month. Got these instead of the competitor's after reading about SMR unsuitability for NAS application; these are CMR.

The 6 TB version seemed like the best balance between price, size, performance and noise / heat. This is going in a 4 bay NVR which is in a very quiet environment. So far, these drives seem much quieter than the 7200rpm version (during seek) which are being swapped out 1 at a time to allow the RAID rebuilds to catch up. Temps are 10C lower than the 7200 pro version. (37C vs. 47-49C per SMART data.)

Price, warranty, acceptable noise and temperature.

I check the warranty from website of Seagate.. totally good.. without problems. I check disc with Hard Disk Sentinel and Crystal disk.. without problems.

A good amount of storage for a reasonable price.

I get sustained sequential write speeds over 160 Mbps every time, and reads are easily as fast. It just keeps going after weeks of recording and I have no corrupted files or lost frames.

Fast, reliable, came with latest firmware, made in Taiwan, 1TB platter, run cool (91F), quiet, lot of rooms, work in RAID (10 and 5), not DOA!

- 18TB, absolutely the most storage I could purchase in this form factor with a SATA connection when I purchased - 7200 RPM, specifically wanted to avoid those 5400 drives that sometimes get pushed on consumers but I also wanted to avoid the heat from an enterprise 15k SAS drive - 256MB Cache - SATA connector (I ended up getting a SAS card anyway but when I purchased this I was limited to SATA only)

These WD HDD's are for my security system servers and they usually last five to eight years. I prefer to buy from Newegg because I still remember they were the first company to really step up the game, and send my stuff the very next day as promised. Way before am zon, who is just out to put the other guy out of business. Newegg never has sent me junk parts, and has always been my PC parts shipper choice.

Does what it's supposed to do, without getting too hot or noisy. I wasn't able test maximum speed as reported in other reviews, but can report that the drive stayed reasonably cool in a convection cooled "fanless" set up. During a five hour transfer session at 25 MB per second, in a 75° room, the drive heated up to 90 to 100° Fahrenheit. I don't know how much hotter it would run if pushed to the max, but of course you'd probably have a fan in that case.

I would recommend Western Digital HDDs (or even their SSDs, I've got those, too) to anyone needing to expand or enlarge their existing system. Easy to install and configure to your Windows OS.

With hard drives there isn't much to them aside from reliability, speed and noise. The noise is acceptable to me, but I know when they're running. I get pretty good write speeds ~110 - 160 MB/s and they've so far been reliable (oldest one is 7 months)
