I ordered three of these drives so far and they have worked exceptionally well on my Synology NAS (ds1823xs+). While they are being accessed, they are certainly audible, but not noisy enough to cause a problem. I have already written around 15 TBs to each drive without any issues. Two of the drives are in a raid 1 configuration for redundancy. If I ever need more capacity, I wouldn't hesitate to order two more of these.

Works good, high capacity

Works well in a mirror raid. Fast. Quiet. Easy to install.

In comparison to a similar 3.5" drive: Very quiet Low power Rapid acceleration from rest Excellent volumetric density

Works as stated. No problems so far.

Ran full surface scans with the WD software and badblocks in Linux. Four drives passed clean and are now running in a raid 10 on an Adaptec 6805E. The packaging imo was great on these drives and the main large box showed no signs of mistreatment. Gonna rate these a 5 egg. Will review again if anything changes.

Faster than expected, very quiet, very cool running, lots of space.

A lot of space for the price point. This is a really good value

These WD HDD's are for my security system servers and they usually last five to eight years. I prefer to buy from Newegg because I still remember they were the first company to really step up the game, and send my stuff the very next day as promised. Way before am zon, who is just out to put the other guy out of business. Newegg never has sent me junk parts, and has always been my PC parts shipper choice.

Name Brand, only 1 drive has failed in the last 4 years out of 150-200 drives installed. Def recommend.

I wanted to post an update for those who may be looking at this for home use. This worked great under WHS2011 and continues that with Win8.1 Pro 64bit... no surprise there.

- It served its main purpose, an ample amount of storage for anything I wish. I've put hundreds of games on this thing and still play them to this day without any issues. It's also really great for storing high resolution content, this is often overlooked IMO. - Tell people what you liked about the product. Longevity, just hit 3 years a few weeks ago and it's still going strong as an ox. Game smoothness has no issues whatsoever. The sound it makes when it's first being used is barely noticeable and lasts between just 3-5 seconds. Exactly what I want from this type of drive. I also like the 192/189 MBps read/write speeds. That may not seem like a lot but when you compare it to cheap SATA SSD drives they're right around 560/530 MBps. So those SATA SSD drives are pretty much just under 3x faster and not the overhyped difference that a lot of people think it is. - Be sure to tell people if your job was made easier by the product. Yes!

I purchased these "sold and shipped by NewEgg". They came packaged nicely, in individual boxes (with adequate shock absorbing materials) and then in a larger box with air bags. The drives registered at Seagate as new, with a recent manufacturing date. My Synology NAS accepted them with no issues. They are a little noisy when reading and writing, but not terrible. Totally quiet when idle and no vibrations from the Synology cabinet. S.M.A.R.T testing showed nothing abnormal. They got a pretty good 24 hour plus work out as the NAS configured its volumes.
