Good price

Great value - $ per Tb Reputation for reliability - I've got a Barracuda that's 10+ years old and runs like a top

The ReadyNAS Ultra series is a great NAS but it has been hard to find HDs to match their compatibility list until they recently updated to include this model. I am running 4 in it and they are great, power consumption is quire, low and I cannot hear the actual drives unless I place my ear right up to the NAS.

I must admit that I was nervous after reading the reviews on this site. Regardless, with the price $30 lower than normal, I decided to take the plunge and purchased 3 of these drives. My expectation was that at least one would fail or arrive doa based on these reviews. All three passed extensive diagnostics and have now been successfully added to my Synology RAID.

Big Best bang for buck value Quiet. I've read reviews whining about noisy hard drives in NAS boxes. My NAS is currently on my desk. I can hear the drive working but they are not loud.

Large 4TB storage. Good price. Reasonably quiet. Easy install.

240+MiB/s sequential write speed while connected to a USB3 dock. Came very well packaged.

No Problem with these drives. Plug them in, initialize, format and you're off and running. Great 5 year warranty and high duty cycle are the draws here.

Does the trick

Works reliably for over 2- 5 years, I've never had a Seagate drive fail.

Nine of these replaced ten 1TB drives that had been running since the 1TG Greens came out. The Greens needed a total of three replacements in that time, all three for SMART pre-fails. None have needed replacement after the first year and a half, as expected. They were replaced to increase capacity. None of the nine failed their 72-hour initial load test.

Great hard drive, nice size, quiet, fast! No longer worried about space issues with this new huge drive, running an Intel 520 240gb SSD as main OS drive and this for data dump/storage. Great addition!

Works great, had a dead drive, but the three others I got were great. Trouble free replacement on the bad drive. Glad I bought from a reputable source.

Top notch performance for a spinning disk drive Built a massive 60TB array in just a couple days through USB 3.0 (that's pretty good) These don't seem to be the green drives that can corrupt RAID arrays They do power down by my RAID enclosure's instructions, but power up quickly when commanded to do so One bad drive out of five, but replaced by Newegg with a good one one

I will say that this hard drive is very user friendly, especially considering I have never built a PC in my life, and am slowly going through upgrading the one I bought from Newegg years ago. I was able to find a YouTube video of a hard drive installation from the same company and it translated super easily to this one.

Simple and easy connectivity...plug and play. Power, USB, it's there.

Stay with WD drives. Have some that are over 5 years old and still work great!

I was getting about 750 MB/s transfer speed with this drive Im very happy

Quiet, fast, always recognized quickly

This drive is quiet, and fast for a platter drive. If your WD black is noisy, (As some have complained) then the drive is defective, you have a junk computer case, or the drive is not mounted securely. This drive replaced my mothers aging Hitachi 5400 rpm drive, which was a really slow. This drive is fantastic! Really quick for a platter drive, that 64 MB cache makes a difference! Solid state drives are still on the expensive side, so I ordered the WD Black as an alternative. This drive does not have the speed of an SSD, but it is still a very good choice.
