works & I got it on the shell shocker deal. doesn't get too warm like some other externals I have.

Simple upgrade to my two-year old MacBook. The drive seems quieter and cooler than the stock 80gb drive that it replaced. It's great having all my media on the internal drive so that I can use my external drive for complete backups.

Very quiet ... probably on account of being 5400 RPM Low power (bus powered off one USB port no sweat) Fast - blows my old 7200 RPM 2.5" drives out of the water

pretty quiet, smooth operation, perpendicular recording, and inexpensive

Bought this drive to replace an aging WD in one of the company's laptops. Very quiet, No chewing sounds.

Quiet! Much quieter than the OEM Travelstar.

Slipped right into my PS3, No bracket... but a bit of cardboard from packing made for a nice fit.

Price is good. Working well so far but it’s only a month now.. hopefully it works good for long time.

This HDD is just what I needed, works well and is quiet and efficient for what it is.

Love Velociraptors...nice fast drives and the price has been slowly falling. Good return policies from WD given the price. WD makes good stuff and they tend to stand behind it in the enterprise space. I've been buying their drives for about a decade now, been largely happy with their service. These 10K drives (along with others like the Seagate Saavio) are built for NAS/SMB file server market. Install a bunch in a decent NAS...format & burn in...then kick back & enjoy the performance. They have an excellent price/performance ratio for the amount of data they can store.

Western Digital. I've always gone with them, and I've never had a problem. I was skeptical about purchasing a refurbished drive, but with WD's track record, I figured I'd give it a go. So far, the drive works great right out of the box. Better yet, the thing looks brand new. No idea what the heck they refurbished, but I'd say it's a new drive.
