In Laptop Internal Hard Drives

I have 4 of these HDDs running for 7 years, 5 years, 3 years and 1 year. No problems whatsoever. WesternDigital bought HGST, and these are my go-to OS & backup drives. I have 2 laptops running SSDs (1 on Windows 10 & 1 on LinuxMint), and 3 laptops running these HGST HDDs (on LinuxMint). I backup critical data/programs to one of these daily.

I've owned this drive (HN-M500MBB) for three years and it still goes strong. I'm writing this review on a laptop with this installed as the OS drive. The only caveat: IS THE QUALITY still the same after Seagate took over Samsung HDD? I just ordered a couple more of these so I guess I'm going to find out. I used this a data drive in an external enclosure for 3 years and have now installed it as the system (OS) drive (clean install) in a laptop I recently bought for my wife. It still works and even though it's only 2nd generation SATA (3Gbs), it's fine for older hardware and laptops.

Been running as a second drive in my Thinkpad t420 for almost two years now, working great. Easy to install, format, and use.

This is a 15k drive in a 2.5inch enterprise form factor. this is designed for use in enterprise grade systems where 2.5inch enterprise drives are used. Newegg is correct in their description.

No issues with installation and operates as expected.

I was impressed by the speed of this little drive! Seriously I got 110.9 read and 109 write on CrystalDiskMark on a freshly installed Windows 10.

Very fast for hard drives, 2 drives in Raid 0 achieved sustained read/write of 310MB/s. The OCZ SSD's achieve over 500MB/s in RAID 0 but depending upon your RAID there are issues with TRIM. These are about 60% of the speed of an SSD, but without any of the issues of SSD's, but are around the same price as SSD's MB for MB.

Quiet and fast. Seems a lot faster than the 160 GB WD drive that it replaced.

well to start nice and thin, and decent transfer rates, Transfer rate max is 139.9MB . and Average transfer rate is 112.5MB. and the Access time was 16.5MS. not bad, Burst rate was 135.1. Really nice little drive. thin Super thin, will work great for a laptop or net book. nice size to 500GB, for the money but like all drives only shows after format to NTFS file system 465GB. ow well. I like the fact of the self encryption. -(SED) and the smart align makes for easy transition to 4KB sectors instead of the old standard of 512 BYTE,S. and 7200 RPM nice.

got this drive to replace a crashed travelstar, and i'm formatting it now. it's whisper quiet too.

My laptop suport only PATA hardisk, is this Paralel Ata? = PATA?

Fast drive with large storage Using this seagate sshd as my system drive, when copying files from external usb3 hdd into my system, the average speed is 75-85 MB/s However copying from the system into external usb3 hdd goes at 45-55MB/s Boots my windows 7 64 (i72670m, DDr3-8G) at an average 18-22 seconds. Way faster than my previous 500G 7200rpm 16mb cache Toshiba Drive.

Almost 3 times the storage space of the original HD in my Toshiba Satellite P105-S6084, seems faster, but that may just be my perception. Swapping was easy with Acronis Easy-Migrate software.
