In Hard Drive / SSD Enclosures

eSATA connection has a natural ability to boot, to convey SMART data, and achieve an as-if internal drive status. It's a pity that eSATA enclosures are becoming rare. Of the eSATA enclosures I've used -- including Fantec, Delock, Conrad, Raidsonic, Orico, AKiTio -- the NexStar has the best build quality and the best compatibility with a variety of HDDs, along with maximum performance.

- Easy setup, no tools needed for enclosure - Works as described, fast USB 3 speed - Includes cord and foam patch to fill space inside

It snuggly fits the ORICO TCM2-C3 enclosure, with at least 1 accessory cable and maybe a spare flash drive or two.

User firiendly. On off switch allows the unit to remain attached when not in use. Sustained use seems fine 72+ hours w/o heating or connectivity issues. It's like having a portable drive attached. Up to 2T fast mount and search search time. Transfers on and off no problems at all Dual bay permits easy automatic cloning, transfers, disk copying etc

Easily accommodates a full size 3.5 inch drive eSata connection is faster than expected Allows addition of big HDDs to Laptop dock Stays cool without fan noise (there is no fan) Reasonable size footprint

-Recognizes old SATA-1 drives (no one could answer pre-purchase) -Low noise (can barely hear it) -Tool-less construction

Worked perfectly.

solid construction. strong case worked well while it worked

-Easy to install -Comes with thermal pads which seem to be decent -Good read and write speeds.

Excellent speed & quiet fan.

USB 5Gb/s interface Comes with both Type A (the classic) and Type C (smaller, reversible, the future) cables Mounts 2.5" and 3.5" mass storage, HDD or SSD drives Easy to separate the case from the inside frame No drivers for the external enclosure required

I was a little leery about buying this, having been burned in times past, but I'm happy to report it does exactly what it says: Makes a true SAS hard drive visible via USB. I tested it under Linux (Kubuntu 24.04 LTS), with an old HP 146GB 2.5" drive, and experimented with both wxHexEditor and the standard Linux partition editor. I was able to, with the hex editor, literally step through every sector/byte on the drive and easily alter or search. This is a Great Thing for file recovery and similar disk forensics. As far as the partition editor goes, I was able to create a standard FAT32 partition on the SAS disk and write/read files on it. Was it the fastest thing on the planet? Of course not. You're going through the overhead of a USB port plus the USB-to-SAS bridge circuitry. But it WORKED!

It works as advertised, used this in an Opteron server with Debian Stretch running 7 game servers, amazing load times.

Good clasps, multiple different model drives all fit nicely and are snug.

Lay-flat design makes it easier to use with a laptop when you're on the go. Easy to dock a 2.5" SDD when you want to keep work and personal files secure. Built-in fan keeps SDD cool
