USB 3.0 works very well - OS finds drives quickly and works well in pass-thru mode - Using PC cloning software. I routinely clone old drives to new ones and have been struggling for years with esata docks and add-on cards. So far a great product and time will tell if will be a long-term solution. I used the dock in standalone mode and it works well also. Great job StarTech !

I am an audio professional needing many TB of hot-swappable space for my work. I have tried and sent back several dual dock models, some highly rated and more expensive, that didn't meet my needs. For one, I don't want a dock that puts drives to sleep after a period of inactivity. I want my drives spinning as long as power is applied. This one does that. For two, I want a dock with a robust power supply that will handle 8GB drives This one comes with a 3A supply, which is enough. Also, I don't need some off-line cloning function or SD card reader or USB hub or whatever. I just want a simple dock. I have used this in both the eSATA and USB3 modes and it works properly. Speed is about the same with either.
