Literally plug and play. plugged in usb cable, power cable (this is a plus because it does not pull from computers power supply) then slid my old hard drive into the slot. Windows 10, picked it up instantly and allowed me access just the same as an interior drive. I slid another hard drive in and cloned my primary drive for a backup. no noise or excessive heat (yet).

Two bare drives, connected with USB 3 speeds, for $27 bucks? How can you say no that that? Drop them (3.5" HDD) into the slots, and then plug in the USB connection. It's stupid easy! Boom! You just added two drives to your system! Got a failing drive? Disconnect it from your system, and you can clone your old drive to a new one. (I haven't done this, but I have a 2TB drive that is failing, and have an 8TB drive to replace it. Haven't gotten that far yet...)
