-Intel i5 processor is smoking fast. amazing speed. SEAMLESS is what i would call it.

-The Inital boot/boots were a little slow but after getting the updates, it goes from my finger pressing the power button, to the windows7 login screen in 13 seconds.

-20 seconds to get to the desktop.

-Screen is amazing, the LED looks awesome.

-4gb ddr3 .. there is never slowdown.. ever..

-The keyboard is awesome, i can see how people think that they will get stuff under the keys... Here is a idea....DONT EAT OVER YOUR COMPUTER.

-USB4x awesome

-played bioshock2 and CODMW2 on HIGH settings, and there was no issue with lag or framerate drop.

-Webcam on SKYPE is VERY GOOD quality

-Does this thing ever get warm? seems that its ALWAYS cool

-QUIET QUIET QUIET!!!! I turned it on for the 1st time, and what did i hear? nothing absolutely nothing.
-for 749, for 799, i dont think you can get a better computer

***This is really stretching it***
-Minor Bloatware, nothing 30 minutes couldnt solve in the control panel.

-Sound isnt that high def, but better than most notebook computers

-bluetooth button, but .. just a button

-no BlueRay drive

-DVD drive tray hits your USB device if its plugged in the right USB port closest to the DVD drive.

TOP CRITICAL REVIEW
Good deal while the laptop lasts

This was a really good buy when we got it on sale for $700. Considering the processor and video card, it's a very affordable solution for a college student to use for both college-related uses as well gaming, of which again because of the processor and video card it is remarkably well suited.

From two to two and a half months after manufacturer warranty (about 10 months after we bought the laptop), we observed increasingly uncomfortable random shutdowns.

The shutdowns seemed to be due to the laptop overheating while playing games, so we made efforts to ensure the laptop was on a surface that would allow for more adequate cooling. Then, the shutdowns continued occurring when doing things such as internet browsing and some multitasking, again seeming to generate unreasonably high heat for the tasks described.

And finally, one day at about approximately 1 year since we had the laptop, it shutdown and no longer woke up. None of the status lights anywhere on the laptop lit up, absolutely no signs of life from the laptop itself.

Memory, hard drive swapped out with known good components, and still no life. All that could really be determined was that there exists some short on the motherboard as the power adapter switches itself off once connected to the laptop.

From researching this issue, I've found many cases where Acer users encounter the same problems with overheating, random shutdowns, and then a permanent shutdown. Obviously these are less expensive laptops than competitor brands with similar specifications, but if it's going to die in a year after use, the less expensive price tag is no longer the smarter solution.

Unfortunately from this experience I will no longer take Acer brand laptops into consideration, nor will I advise others to consider Acer brand laptops. Next time will spend a bit more money and get an ThinkPad or Asus, one that will last long enough to get my moneys worth.
