TOP FAVORABLE REVIEW

This has dropped my HDD temps while under load quite well - they both now have a roof of about 43C (the 160GB WD used to have a roof of about 50C, and the raptor is a lot less than that as well).

The fans were too loud when I got them... however, if you are worried about noise, you can slow down the fans by switching the black/red cable in the connector with the slot where the red molex cable would connect. This gives it 7v instead of 12 and spins slower, resulting in less noise (and less cooling, but some is better than none, right?

This also was a tight fit for my WD Raptor, but it worked out well in the end. The WD1600 fared better with no tightness at all.

This was overall a good purchase (with a little work), and I would recommend it to everyone looking for improved HDD stability.

TOP CRITICAL REVIEW
slight problem

very quiet at when attached to 5.5 volt power, keep my raptors 10-20*C cooler which is great for piece of mind.

loud-ish at 12v but honestly, duh. now comes the big problem, the fans being fans pull air in a certain direction, pushing the blades/shaft slightly further out than they can remain stable at, so unless you keep pushing them back, EVENTUALLY their going to vibrate loudly and irritatingly, its a real shame considdering their great otherwise.

they are still worth the buy, IF this problem occurs with yours, try replacing the fan with another 80/15mm also run at 5.5v or with 2 or more, run in serries to halve the 12v (like i did)
