ASUS 20" HD+ LED Backlight Widescreen LCD Monitor 5 ms D-Sub, DVI-D VS208N-P

Pros: I bought two of these monitors for a triple-monitor setup with my Lenovo Thinkpad in the middle. All three of them conveniently have 1600x900 resolution, so changing video settings in my games to span all three monitors is a snap. EVE Online looks beautiful across these three monitors, and having the extra screen space to hold menus and spreadsheets is priceless. As a programmer I can also testify that the space for my IDE, file directories, online resources, and graphics editing software makes me feel professional and a lot less stressed about organization.

Hardware: The monitors are fully covered with a glossy black plastic, with the exception of the back which is a rough carbon-fiber pattern (I like). It has real buttons underneath the right-hand side, not capacitive touch buttons.

Screens: The screens seem to show black and white and all the colors in between quite nicely. The 1600x900 resolution is perfect for me. It's easier on my video card but almost as good as 1080p.

Cons: Stands: It seems to be an Asus trademark nowadays. The stand will allow the monitor to wobble. Don't be mistaken, the stand is still sturdy enough to hold the monitor upright without leaning, it's just that a nudge will send the monitor wobbling. It is NOT a loose wobble, but a stiff wobble. Not a big problem for me.

I wish the buttons were on the front of the thing. The buttons underneath are not hard to find but they are not visible either. I don't like having to fish for the power button. But these are far from the worst monitor buttons.

Overall Review: My Lenovo only has a single DisplayPort (digital) and VGA (analog) cable, so I was forced to have one of my monitors fed from DVI and the other from VGA. I was told that the VGA feed would not look as good. I would agree that there is a slight difference, but if nobody told you that the VGA feed would look different, you probably wouldn't notice. The blue is just a LITTLE oversaturated on VGA.

Bottom Line: If you are looking at this for your primary monitor, you may or may not want something bigger. I think it's just fine for me. If you are looking for a second monitor, I say look no further. Excellent product. Good brightness, good color, no dead pixels. Stand is wobbly, but construction is sturdy. Can't say much about the 'color modes'. I got these monitors for my simple needs, I don't obsess over color or anything, and I find them to be of high quality and requiring no tweaking.

Asus quality. NewEgg service. Can't beat it.

Pros: Inexpensive

Cons: Washed out colors and an overall disappointing image quality
