I bought this laptop 2 months ago and did not want to write a review until I had time to truely evaluate it. World of Tanks, Starcraft 3, World of Warcraft, among others work great on this laptop at the highest resolution. The only addition I made was to add an SSD boot drive which is really not required, but really does speed the laptop up.
The fans do a great job keeping this laptop very cool during graphic intensive games. The bottom bay door makes memory and disk upgrade a cinch. Easier than any other laptop I have had.
The LED display is SO SO sharp when watching any HD video or even pictures!
The backlight Keyboard is great for playing games in low light conditions!
I love the second hard drive bay! I just wish the bios allowed mirroring, which it does not!
For those not so tech savy, the Asus auto update software will keep all your Win7 drivers up to date!
Not much bloatware at all! I barely had to do any uninstalls.
There are a couple of Con's you need to know going in! They are not major, but BE AWARE! This is NOT a "road warrior" laptop. Do not plan on dragging it to customer sites due to the size and weight. You will not be happy. The laptop is larger than most and I had to throw out my OGIO backpack and only found 1 Laptop Backpack that fits this laptop. Targus 17” XL Laptop Backpack TXL617. Everything else did not fit. The laptop is heavy! I did travel with it and I could really feel the weight in the Airport while waiting for my flight.
This laptop is meant for only occasional travel. Trust me.
Did not come with system recovery DVD's. You have to create your own.
Uninstall Trend Micro! Just garbage.
$1400 is expensive for most laptops, but if you are a serious gamer, you will want to get this laptop. Asus has always been a reputable company, and I have had Asus systems before that have never given me a problem.
Create system recovery DVD's before you do ANYTHING. I thnk mine took 7 or 8 DVD's. Then you can always revert back if the laptop has any problems or get infected.
I also installed McAfee 8.8 which is a pig, but it does not bog down this laptop.

Monitor woes
Breezes through every game I throw at it. Overall impressed with the quality of the machine, good aesthetics as well.
A few days after the machine arrived a fine horizontal line appeared across the screen. Updating bios and vga drivers have had no effect. I hooked up a tabletop monitor to the system and it seems to be a faulty screen, not at all what I have come to expect from ASUS.
