I received this case about three weeks ago (thanks Newegg) and just completed building my gaming PC. Having built numerous custom PC's in the past I have to say that this case is the best-looking and well-designed case I've ever seen. The interior of the case is a pleasure to work in. Plenty of working space and no confined areas. Even the cable management areas in this case work great. The location and use of all items (side panels, drive bays, locations of the 4 fans,) is perfect. All fans operating at high speed are almost inaudible. Even my wife took a second look at this case when it arrived and commented that it was a beauty and, believe me, she could care less about computers. Cooler Master spent a lot of time in designing this case to be user-friendly and it definitely shows. The craftsmanship is first rate, sound level of all fans is extremely low and air flow couldn't be better. You really need to see this case to appreciate its beauty, build-quality and innovative features.
There are some sharp edges in this case particulary in the hard drive bay areas. I have a few small cuts on my hands because of these but I've seen and used cases that should have a box of bandaids included in the accessory kits. Just be careful in the HD drive area.
Best looking case I've ever seen. Best design both inside and outside. Ergonomically perfect. Extremely easy to use. No fancy side windows to ruin its sleek profile and smooth finish. Other than some sharp edges inside the HD bay areas I am thoroughly enjoying the looks and performance of this case. If you really want to showcase you PC after it's built then this is the one to get.
Extremely sturdy build, great airflow. Very stylish and inline with my tastes. Lot's of room on the inside, makes what I had crammed in my old case look puny in this one. Most of the edges aren't sharp. 20+ man hours over the years modding/upgrading/building this thing and NOT ONE cut knuckle! The sound dampening material is decent. Not the best out there but certainly not the worst.
The slide out HDD bays are a nice touch. All the dust filters on it are awesome and keeps the inside nice and clean. I tear her apart once a year to take my air compressor to it and hardly any dust is visable, just junk my son drops through the top louvers.
The cable management on this thing SUCKS! I am the idiot who took the time to tie all the cables down neatly and make all the saddles look pretty and clean. Got all the cable routed and went to finish by running them to their destinations and bam! Those annoying side bars jumped in my way. This is the number one reason why I give her 3 eggs. I don't know what the design team at CM was thinking but someone certainly dropped the ball on that one.
The HDD silencers are ok but I bought after market ones that worked better. The side panels hate staying on once you have taken them off more than just a few times. The acoustic material acts like an insulator and traps heats but that was a given at the time I bought it. The plastic fan shrouds are a little big and when I did my last upgrade, I had to remove them because they interfered with the placement of my pumps and rez.
In march of '10 I upgraded the system to a dual loop water cooling system. I had to cut out the fan mounts and grills at the top to mount my triple radiator and for my dual HD4870's and also mod between the HDD cage and front panel for my dual radiator for the CPU loop. The case itself was really designed for an external water cooling system and certainly not well designed for an internal. The outside of the case still looks sharp but the inside of the case is all butchered. Upgrading to the NZXT Phantom soon because it offers better cable management and better airflow. If CM was ever to fix the cable management on future versions or sisters to this case I would DEFINATELY buy from CM again!
