Cheap for a SIlverstone. I saved some csh by buying the lite version then buying the Silverstone 300w PSU for a HTPC. used a Corsair H50. Could not fit the hard drive caddy with the H50. But I used a SSD so no big deal
It would be nice if ti had the mounts for an ATX in addition to the SFX. It will fit but its tight
Great little HTPC and you can fit a 10.5" GPU
Fits a mATX board into a package with minimal trade-offs.
1. Can take a very large cooler. I am using a Cooler Master 212 with no problems.
2. Large graphics cards fit and have room to breathe. I am reusing a Radeon 6970 with new CPU/MB/RAM/case, and it has at least another inch to spare.
3. Easily fits 2x 3.5-inch HDs and 4x 2.5-inch drives.
4. Unlike some cases with similar sizes, this takes a standard ATX power supply. I strongly recommend a modular PSU because the wire bundle will be pressing against the right side panel when you put the top of the case back on.
5. All intakes are filtered, so there is no need to open it up for cleaning.
1. You do not want to open this case up often. The top is extremely difficult to line up and lock on properly. Plan to spend at 10-15 minutes doing this unless you have a friend to help.
2. Power supply mounting is brain-damaged. The front-mounted PSU makes sense, but the AC power cable that routes from the back of the case into the back of the PSU is very poorly designed. It protrudes into the (included) case fan. In order to close the case back up, I had to bend the cable so sharply that it tore where it meets the plug. Fortunately, the wires inside the sheathe are well-insulated. I worry about this developing into a short if it is opened too often.
3. The PSU cable issue mentioned above forces the side panel to stick out about several mm when closed. This may vary depending on your PSU model, but I don't think it's asking too much to test with Seasonic units.
4. Requires a slimline slot-loading optical drive if you want one internally. These tend to be rather expensive. I opted for a slim external DVD-RW for 1/3 the price. If you want everything in one package or dislike the extra hardware sitting on top of your box, figure in the $70 premium when pricing out this case.
The power supply fitment is awful. The tight fit for the PSU wiring behind the motherboard is understandable given the form factor.
On the other hand, the inability to close the case properly is ridiculous. Reversing the orientation of my PSU would help on that side, but it adds more pressure to the wiring on the other side. If you have a PSU with a stiff wire bundle, you'll need to loosen it up or replace it.
I seriously considered returning this case, but nothing has comparable cooling in such a small package. If you want to fit a high-end PC into an enclosure you can carry under your arm---and keep the temps down at the same time---this case is a necessary evil. And a very attractive one.
