I got this to replace my old 500 GB WD Caviar Black. I was going to get a new WD Black, but I went with this WD Blue because for the same price, I could get a larger drive with similar speed. It is definitely a lot quieter than my Caviar Black for both idle and seek noise.

Don't let the 5400 RPM spin speed scare you off. Advancements in traditional HDD architectures have made this drive faster than my 7200 RPM Caviar Black.
