So insanely easy to install. Keeps my AMD 9590 at 48 deg C while at 5.0Ghz. I was debating if i should get a 240mm cooler and decided to take the risk and go the less expensive route (would have had to swap my case as well) and I'm not disappointing at the slightest. even got it down to 3 deg C idle speed. absolutely ecstatic with this cooler.
fan is pretty loud, but that's to be expected with a 9590 underneath it
stop worrying and buy it
Keeps my 4790k cool at lowest pump speed setting
Horrible PUMP NOISE.... AGAIN!
This is an updated review to my 1st unit which had very loud pump noise.
I actually wanted to return this Unit for a refund and take that money and go buy an 1150 socket water block to fit my old Custom Built water cooling set up I had on my 775 setup, but I waited too long and the store I bought it from would not issue a refund (stupid me...). So I went on Corsairs forum to see what my options were. Searches were showing many threads that the H80i GT is well documented for having an issue with loud pump noise. On one of the threads a Corsair admin was assuring members that Corsairs RMA dept. was well aware of the situation and if you were to RMA a H80i GT unit stating it had pump noise, they would personally inspect the unit they send back out to you and make sure is wasn't one of the faulty units with loud pump noise. AWESOME, right!? Wrong.... The unit I got back has EXACTLY the same issue. when I received it, It was new in a sealed box. So I assume they never actually checked this one before they sent it out. super...
Ive had it installed regardless for a few weeks now because I had some real work to catch up on (rendering video) and the stock heatsink wouldn't keep my CPU below 85c under load at stock clocks. Over this period of time the H80iGT has kept my CPU cool (under 70c) at 100% load with an ambient temp of 72f on the absolute lowest speed setting the pump will operate at. so with that in mind it seems to be performing well but for how long? I LOVE to see how this this preforms at normal pump speed If I can get my hand on one that wasn't faulty.
I will be contacting Corsair for a 2nd RMA soon after I get this work done and can go back to the stock cooler while I wait for the RMA process.
