This thing is the perfect solution to anybody who needs additional power for upgrading their graphics card. Had I had a larger tower it would have worked nicely in a slot. It isn't all that bad externally though.
This thing runs silent. There were a few times that I thought it wasn't even on until I put my hand over the cooling vent.
Runs cold even while playing games on highest graphics settings for hours.
Buying a larger power supply is nice to do, but this running separately is (in my opinion) a way better option if you have a slot to put it in. There are 3 reasons for this:
1. Very large wattage PSUs are more expensive than adding this.
2. This spreads the heat instead of concentrating it at the power supply.
3. This will extend the life of your existing power supply by reducing its load cycle.
If your PSU doesn't have an extra molex 4 pin cable you will need to buy an adapter. Would have been nice if it came with a female SATA to female molex adapter. If your PSU doesn't have any extra cables (molex or SATA) you will need to buy a splitter to add one. This syncs the booster and is the only way to turn it on.
Anyone who complains about the light not staying the same color is a goofball.
Powers my 7950 easily
Fits well into the 5.25 bay
LOUD
light doesn't stay the color I pick
This supplemental power supply was what I was looking for. Its relatively cheap for the power it can put out and more importantly it is VERSATILE. Its so easy to add this to a different pc later, and so many other uses. However, it is easily the loudest part of my rig. Even at idle its louder than my 7950 at 100% fan. The high pitched whine from the tiny intake fans are extremely annoying and have only gotten worse. I will certainly hang on to it, but I'm saving for one big power supply to replace this quickly and return to a silent rig.
