Excellent unit

Quiet!! I'm using this PS in a system that has a 45watt AMD X-2 processor. The HSF on the AMD is extremely quiet, as is this power supply. This system is very, very quiet - more so than a laptop. In fact so quiet that when I originally started the system I had to check to see if the fan was actually running - as the whole system was so quiet.

No cons - well maybe there are far too many connectors; which makes for a hassle in getting the leads out of the way.

We have 17 system on the network that I maintain. All new systems will be built with this PS; in addition, there are three systems in noise sensitive environments. The PS units in these three will also be changed to this brand/type (type R).

After reading the previous post I checked on their Warranty service by calling their support number and telling them that I had a relatively new supply that failed (which was not true). I was directed to the companies web site where you receive an RMA automatically. It's just a matter of filling out the normal RMA form and that's it. Almost as good a NewEgg does with their auto-RMA procedure.

No company builds 100% perfect products - that's the real world. Now, if you want to talk about terrible (as in very slow and unresponsive warranty support) then try getting ASUS to correct a motherboard issue!!!!!!!!

Stay Away

Mesh sheathing looks sharp.

Died the first day. I just hope my cpu and motherboard survived. This was a replacement psu. I was leery of going back to this poisoned well, but I reasoned that it would last me at least a month until I could afford a more reliable brand. Don't be fooled by the occasional five egg ratings. And don't dismiss the poor ratings as flukes. You can take chances with some things, but not power supplies. I learned that lesson the hard way.

I bought the 480W version from Hiper over a year ago. Within ten months my new build began to exhibit quirks. Drives occasionally wouldn't get recognized and system would require reboot. Then the more obvious power-related signs surfaced. Wouldn't power back on after system was powered down. I RMA'd back to the manufacturer. I was without my computer for over two weeks, because they shipped ground. RMA was automatic, no hassles. But today when the replacement finally arrived it was the 530W version along with an environmentally friendly tote bag. I was satisfied that at least the company was trying to throw in a little extra to make things right. That is until I installed it. I plugged in the essential hardware and powered it up. Everything worked fine. I used the system for a few hours and decided to connect my other drives. Powered down, unplugged the psu, and connected the other drives. Plugged in the psu and sparks flew! Hiper... Never Again!!
