According to the pictures and everyone elses review, I'm guessing Nintendo may have forced KINIMAX to change the product soon after finding it compatible to the Wii. Fortunately for me, I was able to purchase the old version which IS Wii compatible and it works great.
Sorry to hear that everyone else got shafted with the non-branded, non-wii compatible one... Hopefully you can find it online somewhere else.
If this new, non-branded version is indeed not wii-compatible, consider this a warning to potential buyers for purposes of wiithernet use. The Wii compatible one comes in a circular, plastic, black and red packaging if that helps...
Cheap?
2 of these failed within 3 weeks of use. The first one stopped being recognized in the list of USB devices. On the second one, the blue internal LED that normally shows activity started blinking nonstop whenever an Ethernet cable was plugged in. In both cases, I swapped it out with a new unit to resolve the problem.
