1TB solid state is more affordable than ever. I have an NVMe for a boot drive. I use this as a fast scratch drive for music and graphics. I have a good feeling this will last for many years. Mushkin has never disappointed me.

I bought 4 of these when they were on sale. Testing with Crystaldiskmark they seemed ok although slower than my other Mushkin drives or Samsung. However in real world performance copying media files they were unacceptably slow. Copying 30 GB of mixed files directly to and from any other drives in my system they would run at full speed for a few seconds and then the speed would drop to around 6 MB/s for approx 10 seconds, then speed up again for a few seconds and then drop back down. I tested all 4 in with several different drives including an NVME Gen 4 SSD, A Mushkin reactor 1TB, A Samsung 840 EVO, and a raid 0 array of 3 WD red NS dirves. Always with the same result. I have a new Ryzen 3900 system with 32 Gigs of ram and optimized for SSD's. So it's not my system. My wild guess is that the cache on these drives is tiny and slow, thus the fluctuations in speed. I returned mine. Thanks to Newegg for their generous return plicy.
