OCZ Gold 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model OCZ2G8002GK

Pros: This is one of the cheapest dual channel 2GB kits you can buy right now. Plus, OCZ is a good manufacturer that you can trust. I've got mine running DDR2-800 at 4-5-5-12-1T at 2.1V, and it's stable, even in torture tests.

Cons: I was surprised to see that the RAM doesn't come with instructions or even recommended settings in the box. No wonder so many people are complaining that it just doesn't work- there's no indication on the RAM that you need to up your mobo's voltage to run it stable.

Overall Review: If you run performance DDR2 RAM (and anything that is DDR2-800 counts), then be sure to check the voltage requirements and latency settings for your memory, make sure your motherboard supports the requirements, and then set them properly.

Pros: Fast memory. Good timings.

Cons: Where do I start? Well first, it love voltage. So much that it had issues running on my DG965WHMKR. It would NOT run at DDR2 spec of 1.8V. Only when I moved it to my D975XBX2KR board and bumped the voltage up to 2.1, would it boot the system without any issues. Second the memory would be flaky on automatic timings that were set on the 965 board. Moved it to the 975 and manually set them and it works without any issues. The 965 board works fine with Buffalo FireStixs or Crucial Ballistixs at stock voltage of 1.8V.

Overall Review: High performance memory comes at the cost at having to micromanage the ever living daylights out it it. Once it's all setup it works great. But that's too much for average Joe who just wants it to work.
