Pros: Very reliable burns after firmware update.

Cons: Got coasters 4 out of 5 when I first started using these disks. They only burned at 8x very unreliably. Was very disappointed by the lack of quality that Ridata had. Was about to toss the remaining disks when I decided to update the firmware of my Lite-on drive. Has worked flawlessly since.

Overall Review: Update your firmware. Especially if you have an older drive. Mine is about 2 years old Lite-on. I would buy these disks again.

Pros: Disks SOMETIMES work for data only.

Cons: Discs do NOT work to burn BOOTABLE ISO images.

Overall Review: For the uninitiated, an explanation of why I'm failing this brand:

Burning an ISO image is not the same thing as clicking on a bunch of files to add to a disc and then selecting to burn those files as data. The disc must have the boot sector code in the right place, OUTSIDE the typical data file system resulting from click-and-drag of files to backup.

Have tried several: different machines (32 & 64-bit); drive burners (Lite-ON, Plextor, Pioneer); operating systems (Windows XP/Vista, Knoppix Debian/Linux variants); burning software packages (Ahead Nero, Alcohol 120%, K3b which itself allows selection of nearly half a dozen burning packages).

My drives, systems and software successfully burn OTHER MEDIA repeatedly and reliably, including CD, CD-RW and DVD-RW.

All burner firmwares were upgraded and verified on each drive manufacturer's home page that RiTek/RiData DVD+R 4.7GB 16X media were supported.

In addition, I even tried to burn at the lowest possible burn speeds.
