Flawless/24PIN 26 Amps on 12+v LINE Overclockers unite
none
Well Im doing my duty as a newegger and following up on this purchase. Its been 8 months now. Not ONE problem. Looks Great. Silent. ITS heavey and made of metal, just wait till you pick it up and compare it to your lil 350 watter that crapped out on you that came with your case. I spent entirely too much time picking a PSU online reading every review and now im doing you a favor, Just get it.
24 pin connector 2 sata power cables and my comp is on 20/24 hours aday on an overclocked Venice chip (2.6 on air w00t)
26Amps on 12v line is all u need to know about this bad boy. I cant see spending more on a PSU unless you absolutley need more connections or power. For those of you who just need an upgrade and don't want to worry about power for a few years, this is the one..PS use Fed ex to ship no matter what the cost..trust me
Price. I read a few reviews of this model and the rp500-2, that state the voltage is very stable and consistent at load.
My first DOA unit matched the pics and description, my RMA unit was totally different. Had to inquire Rosewill. I assumed I had the wrong model or mismatched spec sticker. The 12v rail was important to me, so I needed to know what PSU I had. As you can see from the Rosewill reply to my previous post, they didn't know either.
Factory in China doesn't communicate with Techs in the States regarding revisions, thus doesn't update the website or NewEgg with correct description. I know the 2x4 8pin can be used for both 8 pin and 4 pin CPU sockets on a mobo, between emails and calls, and no one knowing why the unit was changed, I was cautious to hook it up. It could have been wired wrong for all I know at this point. The split 8 pin didn't even clip to each other like every PSU I've seen. I've seen wires soldered to the wrong rails on lower budget PSU's. I wasn't about to take a chance after reading about others here, especially when getting 2 different PSU's
Rosewill's support in China had to ask the engineers if the unit had a revision. Reason I bought it was for 8 Molex and 2 SATA. I didn't need 4 SATA. Now I have to buy SATA to Molex adapters to make up the difference. Floppy's are wired with the Molex so they are hanging in the way, thus the need for SATA adapters now.
The revision unit I received:
Brushed silver gun metal case, not black.
6= Molex 4 pin connectors, 1 strand of 2 alone, 2 strands of 2 molex chained with a floppy each.
4= SATA, 2 chains
1= PCIe
1= (2x4) 8pin. There will be no separate 8 pin and separate 4 pin CPU connector as pictured. There are two 4 pin connectors zip tied together. Use one for the P4 and both to make the 8 pin.
Also there is no 24 to 20 pin adapter, it is a 20+4 connection which is better.
I bought this as a "just in case" PSU for my AGP rig so I'm not left stranded. It's not connected, but tested and powered a test pc. At least it worked.
