SAMSUNG 22" WSXGA+ LCD Monitor 2 ms (GTG) D-Sub, DVI-D 226BW

Pros: Ordered monitor on Monday, received it on Wednesday. No dead pixels. Screen is huge and looks great. Sharp text, good viewing angle, nice stand base which swivels 360 degrees. Easy to use menu buttons. Detailed instructional software. Great looking gloss black panel w/ silver bezel.

Cons: Slight back light bleed at the top of the monitor. Being that I have a 'C' panel, the monitor wasn't correctly calibrated. Read below, on how to correct this.

Overall Review: Open the cover on the back of your monitor. You will see Model:226BW (R). To the right of (R) will be the letter 'A' (AOC), 'C' (CHIMEI), or
'S' (Samsung). If you have an 'A' or 'C' you need to install a calibration file to set up your monitors colors correctly. I can't put a direct link to the site that explains this process because it will be removed by Newegg, so simply type this in Gxxxle search engine without quotes.

Scroll down to where it says "Installing the profile", and follow the simple directions. You should see a great improvement upon completion. Enjoy.

Pros: Big Screen! Nice looking housing. Mine had no dead/stuck pixels.

Cons: I received an "A" version -- NOT a Samsung panel. Very poor color out of the box, you can get nice color by downloading profiles online and then adjusting it yourself BUT you have no way of knowing if it is accurate and calibrated correctly without an expensive tool. Dot pitch is too high and display can sometimes look grainy, i will keep my eyes open for a monitor for a .25x mm dot pitch for next purchase. The resolution is nice, but should be higher for a monitor of this size. there is plenty of backlight bleed on the top and bottom. Lacks more input options. Built in USB hub would be a nice bonus.

Overall Review: Overall I am very unhappy with this purchase. I always bought Samsung panels because they were of the highest quality... now they deceive you and put other companies panels inside their LCD monitors. These panels are clearly different!! Until very recently there were ways to tell which panel you actually had inside your Samsung unit -- now to tick off their customers more they hide this information completely and you need to open your monitor up to find the answer. These are very unacceptable tactics and I will never buy another Samsung product ever again.
