Installed and formatted with no problems. Formats at 9.09TB...will hold massive amounts of data...even a ton of Blu-ray movies. Used CrystalDiskMark to benchmark and got very good transfer rates:
Sequential Read: 245.6MB/s
Sequential Write: 232.6MB/s
I also did a real time data transfer from my Corsair Force SSD drive and actually got faster rates than the benchmark:
Read: 254MB/s
Write: 243MB/s
Very quiet drive with great response. I haven't used Seagate drives for a while, but if this drive stays reliable, that will change. I'm really impressed with the speed. I have another mechanical drive that is also SATA 6, and this one is over 100MB/s faster!
So far, I have no complaints at all about this drive.
This drive has a transfer rate just under half of some very fast SSD drives I have...for a mechanical drive, it's freakin' fast!
Massive 10 Terabytes and low power consumption.
Very shiny, no bolt heads. Looks futuristic.
Everyone at work wanted to see it when I had to pull it out of the esata cage...
RMA'd without any hassle.
Failed right at 1 week of use. I guess 14 heads have a unique click of death.
Tried a USB adapter to run SeaTools and nothing. Just a nice clicking cadence.
Attached directly to mainboard and computer hangs at POST during drive checking, but then boots right up with drive missing. I should have recorded the actuator noise. Probably could have put it into a song.
Missing center mounting holes, if that's a con.
This drive is also really thick. There is a slight scratch in the label from sliding it in and out of my server tray. RAID controller gave very skewed results.
The eSATA case also wouldn't fully screw closed.
Never really been a fan of Seagate. Unfortunately this only reaffirms my thoughts.
Came to work Monday morning to find Windows saying I needed to back up my data right away.
I have a SMR 4TB drive and I can tell this is only using PMR.
Decimal/binary conversion yields 9316GB formatted capacity
This was being used to archive low activity surveillance video at 4 hour intervals. Total data written didn't exceed 85Gb at each scheduled archive.
I was able to get this Friday evening before it went dead. I think this main board only has eSATA 1.0.
