Works on 1.5TB Seagate HDD

- 8 ports
- Inexpensive for a non-hardware RAID card
- Comes with a low-profile bracket
- Fast when used in a PCI-X expansion slot
- Works in a PCI slot, but at reduced speed

- PCI-X format only. When are we going to see PCIe versions of this card?

To the previous reviewer : I can confirm that this card DOES in fact work with Seagate's 7200.11 1.5TB HDD. You must upgrade your HDD firmware to SD1B first, and it will then be recognized by this card.

TOP CRITICAL REVIEW
Spoke too soon about drivers

Tune it later....

It turns out, the Marvell XP64 bit drivers on my CD though they install and seem to allow functionality at first glance, do NOT work on my system at all. All hard drives attached show corrupt data.. bad or missing files etc.
When installed to another controller the drives and files are fine.
So I tried the adaptec driver, this resulted in the hang ups mentioned earlier, an that my two Cavalry external RAID1 can not be seen at all.

I am waiting for reply from Supermicro fro the now mythical e-mailed drivers. Why they can not after months give us working drivers either on the disk or on there FTP site is a mystery.
