Worked perfect...allowed me to connect my old IDE hard drive to a SATA on my MB with no issues. May buy another to use with other IDE drives I have laying around since I have so many open SATA ports.
None so far, other than having to troubleshoot a bit.
When I first plugged everything in my PC hung on POST for like 30 seconds and then finally entered BIOS. Once there, I saw the drive wasn't detected. Dang. So turned it off, looked at the instructions and noticed there are two little switches underneath the SATA ports on the adapter. You need to make sure those switches match up to the HD jumper based on the instructions (Master, Slave, CS). It's confusing, because it looks like you only need to set those if you're plugging into an IDE port on the MB...which is not the case. Once I set both the HD and adapter to Master, it POSTed immediately and let me into the BIOS where the drive was detected just fine. Made some adjustments in boot order (so it'd treat this as a secondary drive) and the thing booted right into Windows. Formatted the drive and all is well. Performance is actually really good as well. Couldn't be happier!
Works with non-secure boot computer.
HP 6300 Pro with Secure Boot feature will not boot when adapter is attached to IDE ODD and motherboard SATA port. Contacted Syba customer support but they could not solve the problem. Problem may be the adapter is not a registered component for secure boot computers.
Would not recommend for secure boot (Windows 8) computers.
