Very, very effective at cooling. (I have rated this a 5 based purely on it's effectiveness but see cons below.) 120mm fan is replaceable. Love the included speed controller so I can spin it down as much as possible while maintaining effective cooling.
Freaking huge. You will probably not get away without a few cuts and scrapes getting this installed. Getting this installed onto a socket AM2 with the included clip was one of the least-fun experiences I have ever had in PC assembly. You will invent new and interesting combinations of curse words.
Once it's in, and if it fits, you are golden.
Keeps my Phenom II X3 720 happy @3.2GHz and is relatively quiet.
Single biggest complaint is the mounting 'system' for the AM# socket, if you can call it that. Of all the brackets, mounts, braces and screws, the only thing holding this to my CPU is a simple pressure clip. There is no way to make sure it is positioned correctly and it freely slides around on the thermal compound - I'm amazed that it hasn't slid down now that its in the case!
The instructions for this socket are as underwhelming as the mount - a tiny black-and-white card that's not even labeled as such. Going online helps, but you just get a color PDF of the same card.
A 4-pin fan would have been nice instead of the manual speed control.
Overall...meh. The mounting experience was horrible, and had nothing to do with the size. There is a little nub in the center of the heatsink that the mounts for other sockets use to position the heatsink. Would it really be that difficult to include a similar mount for the AM#? Preferably one that uses all three clips instead of just one on each side? Given the size of this product the very least I expected was a respectable mounting solution.
This is probably fine for the Intel crowd, but I wouldn't recommend it to AMD users.
