Good solid heatsink, working, high-output little fans. Installs without modification to my case (Eagletech Viper 2)
The bearing type is sleeve. Like others have warned, it will wear out sooner, than the latest bearing-types. For the price, this is hardly a true con.
Most likely, you will not need to mod your case, or bend down the notches on your hard-drive enclosure etc, as long as you just use the 2 screws on the back of the heatsink, which was what I did. It's secure enough with just those in for me. I can probably mange to add the front screws in, but it'll take some effort.
With a little ingenuity, you shouldn't have to change your case to accomodate the heatsink.
Consider either upgrading or replacing the fans when they finally give out. Any 50x10mm fans will work (I think it's worth it to do that, after the stock-fans give out. You'll just have 1 extra 4-pin wire to deal with is all.).
Too bad I can't find any 50x10 mm fans that come with LEDs!
This is a great harddrive cooler. It does exactly what it says, and does so quite well. The temperatures of my harddrives dropped several degrees.
While it does what it says at first, the bearings fail. I've had two of these for roughly 20 months now. There are four fans total in my pair, and three have failed. The bearings on these fans simply cannot take long-term wear. I expect at least two or three years from my fans, if not more. If you think that's an unrealistic expectation, than I highly recommend this product to you. Also, the fans trap excessive amounts of dust between themselves and the harddrives. As for workmanship, I have to rate this product sub-par. One of the molex connectors broke when I unplugged it (the long metal pin came out).
At first I saw a drop in harddrive temperature. Then I watched them slowly climb back to where they were when I started looking for cooling solutions. If you are looking at a cooling solution for the "long haul," look somewhere else. I'm severely disappointed with the long-term reliability of this product.
