Verbatim 4.7 GB 16X DVD-R 100 Packs Spindle Disc Model 95102

Pros: Price was good on sale. Verbatim is a trusted brand. Came packed really well with the other part of the order. No damage to the cakebox or the discs.

Cons: As noted before, the cakebox stack as an odd smell. My stack didn't seem to be too obnoxious, but its a rather curious smell.

Overall Review: Not that much difference between DVD+R and DVD-R media as it seems to play on just about every DVD or Blu Ray player out there, so just get the best quality disc you can get on sale. NewEgg usually has the best prices out there with free shipping.

Pros: I'll pass on any more of these for now.

Cons: I have used Verbatim DVD-R and DVD+R for years. They've always been great disks. They have major quality control issues with the last spindle I bought. Out of 60 disks used, the ink layer in the disk is not consistent and uneven. I had 3 disks that the writer hardware would not recognize as a disk. 6 more of the disks burned ok, at 8 speed, but could not be read completely afterwords. There are visible streaks in the ink layer of those disks. I don't trust them. I almost lost some data because of them. Some of them could be read on the first day but not 2 weeks later. To be sure I used different hardware to burn some with the same result. I thought that I had a writer with a weak or dirty laser. Verbatim has let their QC lapse, or these are real old disks where the ink is getting old. You'll need to look at each disk after burning, if they have streaks in the ink layer then throw them away and burn another one. I'm switching brands at least for now.
