1TB drive for a person who had a 10MB drive is awesome. Package size is convenient and easy on the desktop. Price paid was excellent at Newegg.
A bit slow for backup but it works. If anything I find it too quiet -- can't tell if it is doing something or not.
Drive died on me after two months. Vista did not recognize it at all. WD provided excellent email support. A new drive was shipped to me before I had to return the old one. New drive appears to be working well. I did lose my backup on the old drive but have since done a complete backup to DVD and to the WD drive. Should have done that in the first place for the stuff that was important. Just wanted to commend WD for their response -- they have been criticized in other posts.
I used the external HD to save pictures and family videos and it worked fine for 6 months.
All data lost.
I decided to move some new videos over for storage and discovered that the HD was no longer detected by Windows. Long story short, after much trouble shooting with support, it turned out that the HD was now showing up as unformatted disk with all data lost.
There's one thing to lose backup files but it's another thing to lose your family's pictures and videos. I'm very upset and would not recommend this product.
