All 500 GB Drives are 465GB

To the person below (rlbog) and others who may not know: all 500GB drives are actually 465GB, regardless of manufacturer. (35GB is Not lost - it was never there) - this is due to hard drive manufacturers rating their drives on base 10 (decimal) while microprocessors (CPU's) operate in the binary realm (base 2). (in decimal, 1K is 1000, whilst in binary, 1K is 1024, and thus the ''discrepancy''.)

None - perhaps I am just lucky, but every hard drive that I have ever purchased from newegg is still 100% functional, with the oldest being a 160GB. Of course, I take care to NOT static zap the drives while installing them & I don't move them if PC is on.

To the reviewer below who stated "missing items" and blamed newegg - no items were missing - this is an OEM product, which includes ONLY the bare drive. That is why it is cheaper than the Retail Box version - you shouldn't have given a 2 egg because of this. Look up OEM and you'll see.

TOP CRITICAL REVIEW
fine for a while

Worked great for bout a yr 1/2

Without any other notice it acquired some bad sectors

Didn't know what was up when I was transferring music over network i kept getting errors and halting, so I thought it was a network problem but turned out to be this drive.
I just used it for general storage, not regular access, guess im glad I found out when i did, before it really died.

Features
FeaturesCool - Cool operation results in the highest reliability, even in intensely hot environments such as digital video recorders. That's why these, the coolest on the market, are the drives of choice for the world's leading consumer electronics and PC manufacturers. Quiet - The technology that Tom's Hardware Guide called "very fast and nearly silent" is used throughout this family of drives. Our WhisperDrive technology minimizes noise to levels near the threshold of human hearing. To cut seek noise, SoftSeek technology streamlines read/write seeking algorithms, resulting in more efficient operation.
