Wow, just... wow. This thing is a beast! Resolution? GO FOR THE HIGHEST! Wait for vertical sync? ENABLED! Anti-Aliasing? DO IT! Anisotropic Filtering? GO FOR IT! And the always system killing detailed shadows? GO AHEAD... TURN 'EM ON! Folks, this card takes all this and shrugs them off and gives you one heck of a gaming experience. I have never been so pleased with a video card than I am with this one. I looked at alot of 4850's but this one didn't need anything fancy to present itself, it's big, black, and sports higher than normal specs without being overclocked. And this is just one card... I plan to grab a second one and Crossfire 'em in the near future. Props to Newegg with super fast delivery and a UPS dude that knows where to drop off the package.
Very minor but, lack of accessories. No Crossfire cables, I got 2 with my mobo so not a big deal. No mounting screws, luckily I had a couple spares so it's all good. Now if you have a tower that uses spring loaded clamps to hold things in place, the plastic housing on this monster will block it. Make sure you have two mounting screws that you can use instead.
About the size of a brick and weighs just as much, this 4850 means business. All this card asks is for one PCI-E power cable to satisfy it's hungry appetite. Sure, there are other less expensive alternatives for the 4850 but a little extra cash towards this bad boy is worth it. Just make sure you have the room for it!
Plays Crysis on High with playable framerates, Sf4, and any
other game out there.
Didn't last long. 5 days after my newegg 30 day return policy
ran out, It started giving artifacts while playing a game, BSOD, and now everytime I boot up the computer with it, there are artifacts all over the screen.
XFX's lifetime warranty is very nice. I had a similar problem with my 6800gs(but after 3 years of use) and got a replacement swiftly(albeit a 8400gs without a fan....), but it was enough to hold me over until I picked up this card. Hope the replacement I get actually has a fan on it...
