Brand new ABS Athlon/Ryzen system.
(old) Sata III SSD ASD Benchmarks- Read/Write speeds: 510.47/518.53 MBs for a total score of 1042.
XPG SX8100 M.2 ASD Benchmarks- Read/Write speeds: 2632.56/1755.31 MB/s for a total score of 2720.
Prior boot time from depressing power key: 30 seconds or so to Win 10 screen.
SX8100 M.2 boot time from depressing power key: Maybe 8 seconds.
Online gaming with executable loaded on the XPG: There are simply no load screens anymore.
I knew that theoretically a system could be this fast-but you have to see it to believe it.
I researched the XPG item as much as I could before purchase: It benches mid-high/high/ very high relative to most other M.2 drives in overall speed.
To be sure, there are faster M.2s, but not by much *and* at extremely higher price points.
Some confusion because the product is so new.
1) Heatsink? Yes, there is an included heatsink shipped with these units. It is fairly thin, and installed properly the printed logo will be upside down relative to my ASRock Mobo.
2) Get the 8200 XPG? There is some thought that some of the ram on these M.2s is unavailable due to design/budget. If so, I believe the difference is negligible.
3) Unknown how viable the unit is over the long term
I believe I got some outrageous half price deal owing to the newness of this XPG model. That was good enough.
But, for sheer firepower in overall system acceleration-this is the best upgrade I have ever made.
Thanks New Egg!
So, yeah... 5 Stars
Only the price.
The title clearly states that this drive has TLC NAND, but it's simply not true. This SSD model uses the extremely slow 96-layer Micron QLC NAND what results 100-200 MB/s transfer rates for both reads and writes. The top of this, the S.M.A.R.T provides faulty data.
Do not buy this drive! Choose a different brand, since ADATA likes to exchange major components without ANY notice. You can find several articles about this on the web.
