MSI GP Series - 17.3" NVIDIA GeForce 840M - Intel Core i5-4200M - 8GB Memory - - Windows 8.1 64-bit - Gaming Laptop - (GP70 Leopard-010 )

Pros: Mine came with the newer Intel Core i5 4200H which was a very nice surprise. Excellent screen size & resolution, Ethernet adapter (Killer E2200), and sound system. It does come with 1 - mSATA open slot for you to add an additional SSD.

Cons: While the 1 TB hard drive as all the space you want, it really slows the capabilities of this laptop down. I immediately cloned and installed a Samsung 840 EVO SSD and put in an addition 840 EVO mSATA into it for additional space. It now runs fast! I had to clone the drive on a separate computer due to the solid MSI recovery system installed on the laptop.

Overall Review: My main purpose in purchasing this laptop was for work and I needed a solid processor, memory and larger screen that did not empty my wallet. In addition, to still be able to game while away from my desktop. This is an excellent laptop for the price. Once you put in a SSD, you can use the full speed of the laptop. While I wish it had a Nvidia GTX graphics card the GT running with the Intel 4600 is acceptable while gaming on the go.

Pros: Graphics Card 840M, Tactile Keyboard, Great Monitor, Best audio for $1k range

Cons: Hard Drive is slow as could be (kills the capabilities), AC3160 Wireless adapter is 50% accurate at best, MSi s=customer support treats you like you are ignorant.

Overall Review: Despite this laptop coming to me with the functionality of a chromebook (applications constantly crash) the worst of it is MSi customer support treats you like you are ignorant of even the most basic computer functionality. I was essentially asked (comically even) "Have you turned it off and on again?"

I never felt like they cared about my technical issues and I was in fact a bother. Perhaps they are having so many technical issues they cant afford to have proper customer service. So instead of sending this laptop in for possible repair (which I've tried everything I know plus got my programmer friend to help) I'm returning it. It was a good laptop... for a week. If you get an MSi you HAVE to get the GT72 otherwise its not worth it. Just gonna build a better desktop with my refund.
